Supplement 4: Hadith
Contradictions
This
is not an
exhaustive list as I consider the Qur’anic arguments outlined in
the main work to be strong enough to not need such a list. This
list could have been expanded to cover more problematic aspects,
e.g. scientific, theological, absurdity and moral issues.
Also note the many problems within the so-called “science of
hadith” were not discussed, as it could fill its own book. Such
a book should include a compendium of quotes from famous Muslim
scholars about Hadith, since they can be very revealing and
expose the weaknesses of the Hadith system.
Note that for most of these examples Hadith scholars have
attempted to explain away the issues, primarily by making
inconsistent exceptions, interpolations and interpretations not
present in the original sources. They also often disagree with
each other on the status of a hadith and narrators (i.e.
inconsistent, subjective, fallible human standard = disputing
partners, zann).
Contradicts Quran:
1) Muslims sins placed upon (or replaced by)
Jews/Christians

2)
Prophet’s alleged suicide attempt
Bukhari 6982 ≠ Quran 4:29-31, 15:56,
41:49, 12:87. If this hadith is true then the prophet could be a
kafir as per Quran?
3)

oppress, flog your back and take your wealth
Muslim 1847b ≠ Quran 3:104, 4:75, 4:135,

≠ Quran

28)
If two Muslims fight each with swords both are going to Hell =
Bukhari 7083
This means due to the 1st and 2nd civil wars (fitnah) thousands
of sahaba are going to Hell. Scholars attempt to get out of this
by claiming it may not mean for eternity. However this claim
contradicts Quran 4:93. Also note it contradicts hadith Tirmidhi
3748,
Dawud 4649-4650 of the ten promised paradise because 3 of those
10 are known to have fought in those wars: Ali, Talha, Zubayr.
29)

≠ Quran
2:190-191, 2:217, 5:32, 17:33, 22:39, 42:39-43. Some scholars
claim 9:5 abrogates other verses, it doesn’t. They differ on how

see the work ‘The Farewell Sermon of prophet Muhammad: An
Analytical review’ By Mohammad Omar Farooq.

Tirmidhi 2665.
Dawud 3646, 3650. Bukhari 480.

Note sex with an animal does not break one’s fast or ihram
according to madhabs.
44) Which
wife gave the prophet honey and which wives conspired against
him?
Muslim 1474a, 1474b.
Also note Aisha and another wife allegedly conspired and lied
to the prophet. Aisha is allegedly a significant narrator of
hadith. I say “allegedly” because hadith may have been
attributed to her that she never said, just like any other
narrator.
45) Did
prophet seek personal revenge or not? = Bukhari 4458,
6126
46) Wash arms
up to elbows or armpits?
Bukhari 5953. See Quran 5:6
Prophet's masjid is the last masjid
Muslim 1394c
Note how often questions are raised about Abu Huyrayrah's
trustworthiness.
47) Abu
Hurayrah caught lying about prophet
Bukhari 5355. Note in traditions Aisha corrects
him multiple times, his Israilyat hadith are heavily
criticised, and Caliph Umar restricts him spreading hadith. A
question to ponder is: if he was accurate in hadith why would
Umar restrict him? When surely spreading accurate info about
prophet's sayings/actions would be a good and necessary thing.
The only logical conclusion is he was frequently inaccurate,
yet he is the most cited narrator in Bukhari and Muslim.
48) Are there
evil omens or not?
Muslim Book 26 : Hadith 5508,
5524.
Bukhari Volume 7 Book 62 Hadith 30,

Aisha disputed Abu Huyrayrah’s narration, and in several other
examples.
49) How many
wives did Solomon have: 60, 70, 90 or 100?
Bukhari 5242, 3424,
6639,
1654,
7469.
Also note the highly improbable claim of having sex with 100
women in one night, and the injustice of a defective child
being born due to Solomon’s error.
50) What was
the last revealed verse of the Qur'an?
Bukhari Volume 6, Book 60, #67,
#129.
Muslim Book 011, #3939

Abi Waqqas or Sa'd bin Malik? = Bukhari 4055,
4057,
4059
59) Multiple
contradicitons reported about one transaction

+ #3888, #3889, #3891, #3892, #3893, #3894, #3895
60) Ubai ibn
Ka’b or Abu Ad Darda was involved in collecting The Quran?
Bukhari: Volume 5, Book 58, Number 155,
and Volume 6, Book 61, Number 525,
526.
Also note it says Quran was collected during lifetime of the
prophet.
61) First or
last 10 verses of Surah Kahf give protection from Dajjal?
Sahih Muslim: Book 004, Number 1766,
1767.
Note that the Dajjal has not been a threat to anyone for 1400+
years.
62) What was

Muslim 267d

blind but this doesn’t resolve the issue.
66)
Complexion of Jesus variance:
Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 54, Number 462,
Volume 4, Book 55, Number 649,
650,

88, Number 242. Muslim: Book 001, Number 0317,
0327
67) 40yrs
time gap between building al masjid al haram and al masjid al
aqsa
Bukhari 3366. Muslim 520.
According to traditions time gap between Abraham and Solomon
is more than a 1000yrs.
68) Madinah
or Syria as place of death for Abu Sufyan

Medinah. For example famous Hadith scholar Ibn Hajar considers
it an error.

Bukhari 7517.
70) Hadith is
necessary to supplement The Quran. = Contradicts Bukhari 2729,

(10 years). Muslim 2351b (13 years), 2353e (15 years)
76) Timeline
of Abu Sufyan’s offer of His Daughter in Marriage to the
Prophet
Muslim 2501. Contradicts historical reports
stating they were married prior to this, years before Abu
Sufyān’s conversion to Islam.
77) Prophet
died when he was 60 or 63?
Bukhari 3536, 3548,
3902.
Note that solar/lunar year does not resolve the discrepancy.
78) Prophet
married whilst in state of ihram or not = Bukhari 5114.
Muslim book 8, 3285.
79) Saʿd ibn
Muʿādh’s meeting with the Prophet after the revelation of
Qur’an 49:2, but Saʿd had died years earlier
Muslim; Book 001 Number 214.
Bukhari: Volume 6, Book 60, Number 369.
80) Bara’ ibn
Ma‘rur as Jabir ibn Abdullah’s maternal uncle conflicts with
historical accounts
Bukhari Volume 5, Book 58, Number 230.
81) Ibn Abbas
was not born at the time of revelation of Surah Al-Qiyamah,
thus could not have observed what he claimed he did.
Bukhari Volume 1, Book 1, Number
4, and Volume 9, Book 93, Number 615.
Muslim, Book 004, Number 0901.

Also contradicts Nasa’i 721
99) Ajwa
dates prevent poison and magic = Bukhari 5768,
5779
100) Black
seed (nigella sativa) cures all disease = Bukhari 5688
This hadith can expose what is truly in the hearts of those
who claim to uphold hadith. When their life is on the line
will they use black seed only? Of course not. They do not
accept it, just like Bukhari did not include ~99% of hadith he
collected in his alleged final sahih collection. I say
"alleged" because we do not have the original.
